A Question of Witches

My, it's been quiet in here. I'll ask a question to stir things up a bit.

I've been doing a little research on the history of the witch in norse literature. Specifically, to find out what they were called. I know volva was a seeress, that a seidh- or seid- kona was like a sorceress/wise woman/practioner of seidr as taught by Freya, that Heide could either be the goddess one invokes or a term for those women who did. Like the concept of the soul, death, and the afterlife in nordic mythology, it seems to be very open to interpretation.

Anyone here care to weigh in with their opinion and/or word of choice?
